Web3Clubs in partnership with Bitke.io organized a NEAR Certified Developer Bootcamp which was hosted by Strathmore University.

The partnership aspired to educate developers about the NEAR project and to encourage them to leverage the NEAR  protocol to develop and launch their own smart contracts.

The Bootcamp program was conducted for three days in May of 2022. The program constituted an intensive course that equipped the participants with the required skills for developing projects on the protocol.

The program also involved hands-on sessions and the participants were able to learn the programming language Rust.

More opportunities for developers

More than 20 participants who came from across Kenya, including the Strathmore and Kenyatta Universities, were able to work through codebases and at the end of the session had live demos that demonstrated how to upgrade from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 inside the NEAR protocol.

Just a few days after learning to code on the NEAR protocol, several participants had already submitted their Projects.

NEAR’s first Bootcamp was organized to facilitate new developers with a ground foundation of NEAR, web assembly script, and programming languages like JavaScript and Rust.

Developers can access materials from https://discord.gg/8MGQr4u2 to join the two-month course with a priority focus on developing applications projects deployed to the Near platform.

NEAR spurs blockchain adoption across Africa

NEAR  has contributed majorly when it comes to blockchain adoption in Africa based in Kenya.

Just recently in May 2020, the protocol joined forces with their Sankore project from Kenya to build a blockchain hub.

It is through the hub, that NEAR will be educating and delivering innovation and talent across the African continent.
