Samsung Asset Management HK Ltd has announced the inception of the Samsung Asia Pacific ex NZ Metaverse Theme ETF.
The inception will take place on 6th July 2022 as the listing is expected to be done on 7th July 2022 on the stock exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK).
Samsung reported that the ETF, which is Samsung’s first APAC metaverse ETF, will come in handy to APAC ex NV investors in the metaverse sector.

The listing price will be at HKD15 with the board lot size of 50 units standing at HKD750 for each lot.
The company targets specific sectors including augmented reality/virtual reality, social media, artificial intelligence, and online gaming among others. Its experience portfolio management team will be selecting the companies that are currently will be involved in metaverse projects in the coming future.
The Samsung Asia Pacific ex NZ Metaverse Theme ETF is a sub-fund of Samsung ETF Trust. The sub-fund will be investing in metaverse companies that are located in the Asia-Pacific region except for New Zealand. The goal is to create long-term capital growth through investments.
Targeted companies should be fully involved in projects that are providing services and products that contribute to the development of the metaverse.
Samsung goes virtual
The metaverse ecosystem is anticipated to be reaching highs of $783.3 billion in 2024. The metaverse space in the Asia-Pacific region also shows positivity as it is reported to have exponential growth. Mainly because enterprises from China, Japan and Korea are reported to be actively involved in spurring the adoption of the virtual space.
Samsung’s announcement comes after the company launched its flagship phone model, Galaxy S22 Ultra in February 2022. The phone comes with an installed crypto wallet in which Users can store their private keys and ID documentation.
In June 2022, the electronics company also launched a blockchain technology ETF. the ETF ( code;3171HK) is the world’s first Active technology ETF. The electronics company aims to develop more metaverse revolutionizing devices.
Samsung joins many leading global companies that are exploring the metaverse space. Companies such as Nissan and Toyota and the leading global audit, tax and advisory company, KPMG are among the organizations that are striving to hasten the adoption of the metaverse.
