- The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will run through a Blockchain-enabled ticketing system.
- The main recommendation focuses on the ticketing system that will be used in the Olympic Games.
- There is a great relationship between Crypto and Olympic Games
The French government is willing to run the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through a Blockchain-enabled ticketing system.
Through the Olympics Committee, the move will seek to provide securely non-transferable and personalized access to users.
The France Olympics Committee is the body tasked with oversight of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The blockchain system will provide security
According to Michel Cadot, the interministerial delegate for the Olympics Committee, a set of amendments was issued. The amendments were submitted through a report to the Prime Minister of France
The main recommendation focuses on the ticketing system that will be used in the Olympic Games. Michel believes that permits issued through a Blockchain system will guarantee additional security to the fans.
The amendments lay down a plan for the tickets to be non-transferable. The tickets will then be sent by the institution a few days before the Olympic Games commence.
Tickets will be available through a rotating QR code system based on Blockchain technology.
Upon entering the venue, spectators will check in and deactivate their tickets. Michel Cadot trusts that the personalization of the ticketing system hosts numerous advantages. Users are able to receive messages through digital channels.
These messages entail information on how to arrive at the venue from different districts within Paris and safety measures put in place. The committee also proposed that Blockchain ticketing systems be integrated into multiple sporting events within the country.
Crypto and The Olympic Games
The need to have the amendments came after the fiasco experienced at the 2022 Champions League Final held in Paris last month. The final between Real Madrid and Liverpool was delayed by over 40 minutes.
This was due to the large number of spectators that turned up without tickets. Some of the spectators were in possession of fake tickets within most of the spectators involved in the fiasco came from the UK.
Despite the rush and effort to move past security, the spectators in possession of fake tickets did not manage to enter the stadium. This is not the first time that crypto and Olympic games have shared a common objective.
In the Tokyo Olympics that took place last summer, the Indian exchange platform, Bitbns, awarded crypto to local medal winners. Gold medalists were awarded $ 2700 in crypto assets, silver winners obtained $ 1350 while bronze winners got $ 675 worth of crypto.
In the Beijing Winter Olympics that took place earlier in the year, China made efforts to encourage the adoption of crypto. The country encouraged the adoption of digital currency (Yuan) in the Olympic Games.
This enabled foreign visitors and athletes to use the cryptocurrency for trading and ticketing. Despite concerns from the US and some of its allies, China was able to steer the Crypto adoption awareness campaign in its favor.
Over $ 315,000 worth of digital Yuan was transacted in the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Qatar also reported its move into the crypto world. The Middle East nation will be hosting the first-ever Metaverse FIFA gaming tournament. This move will allow fans across the globe to see the top FIFA players engage and compete for EA Sports FIFA 22 Champions League Cup.
