- OliveX gamers to receive crypto and NFTs from a blockchain game
- Physical fitness to be merged with blockchain technology
- Rewards to be used for trading and unlocking additional levels
OliveX announced it will reward its users with NFTs and cryptocurrencies from the mobile blockchain game, Dustland Runner.
The aim is to create a fitness game ecosystem that integrates the Sandbox metaverse from Animoca Brands. Sandbox is a virtual space that enables players to create, buy and trade their in-game virtual assets as they interact with other diverse users and brands.
How the NFTS and Crypto Will Be Awarded
Players will be required to run different distances physically in the real world with smartphones in their hands. Once the players complete their missions on the OliveX adventure game, they will receive crypto and non-fungible tokens.
Players will accumulate the Dose tokens and NFT rewards they receive and use them to trade in NFT marketplaces and crypto exchanges. They can also use them to move to higher levels in the game.
OliveX will leverage this strategy to explore three different thriving industries by merging physical fitness into games that integrate blockchain technology.
The 37-year-old CEO, Keith Rumjahn, terms the move-to-earn a game-changer. “For the first time ever, players have true digital ownership of their games, and the game developers also earn more because there is no middleman. So it’s a win-win,” he says.
Rumjahn’s Australian listed company raised $5.7 million in November last year. The funds were later used to develop the first move-to-earn blockchain title, Dustland Runner in March 2022.
Origin of the Dustland Runner Game
Dustland Runner is based on an older game, zombies, Run!, which OliveX acquired for $9.5 million in March 2021. The game is a product of the fitness gaming platform Sol cycle. Its focus is to replace cycling with running and should launch in early June.
OliveX will include more sports games like boxing and rowing before incorporating motion detection technology in the game.
“Our mission is to onboard a billion people,” says Rumjahn, “in doing so I want them to earn their first NFT and crypto token through exercising.”
The company is designing a virtual fitness space in Sandbox. Here, players will bring their NFT rewards from the Dustland Runner series into the diverse metaverse platform.
More Partnerships in Store for OliveX
The virtual land will feature several companies, such as the German fitness apparel retailer Gym Aesthetics, boutique fitness Studio operator Trib3, and British playground manufacturer Play innovation among others.
Through these partnerships, traditional brands will venture into the new internet, Web3. OliveX will be able to reach out to enthusiasts who still do not know about the evolving technologies.
This decision has caught the attention of many crypto investors and, as a result, the company’s market cap has doubled to A$190.5 million over the past year.
“In this fitness metaverse where everything is interconnected, I can play my first game and keep the weapons, and I can continue to use them in multiple games. How cool will that be? That’s the dream we want to build.” says Rumjahn.
