Pepsi and Burger King Partner for ‘X Marks the Drop’ Campaign with African Ginger

The X Marks the Drop campaign featuring African Ginger is ongoing, courtesy of Burger King and PepsiCo South Africa.

The fantastic partnership between Burger King and PepsiCo South Africa is featuring the famous South African artist African Ginger. African Ginger, also known as Seth Pimentel, is well-known for his art, not only when it comes to music but also in digital art. He announced his NFT campaign, ‘X Marks the Drop,’ in an Instagram post on December 15, 2022. However, the campaign continues until January 31, 2023, while engaging with both brands.

NFT enthusiasts and Burger King and Pepsi customers can play an AR game, courtesy of the two companies, to earn different prices, including ‘X Marks the Drop’ NFTs. They can participate in the hunt throughout the country. The winner, chosen randomly at the end of the campaign, will get an original African Ginger NFT worth $25 000. Furthermore, they will get one physical artwork from the campaign. 

The prizes winnable from the AR game include:

  • 10 000 limited edition NFTs
  • 20 000 free whoopers
  • Deals and discounts from different outlets for meals and free drinks

Burger King and Pepsi have been working together for about 9 years. According to Martin Charles, a representative from PepsiCo, this opportunity will give South Africans an outlook of both companies’ innovation. Furthermore, considering the connection most people have with smart devices today, the BKxPepsi campaign is an engaging movement for many.

African Ginger, being a part of this and a young artist in South Africa, shows inclusivity for Gen Zs with an art appreciation. After all, the artist’s blend of traditional and digital art in his illustrations is to die for; this is also a push for the young generations to express themselves. Additionally, customers are more willing to engage with the brands with the gaming experience. 

Participating in the BKxPepsi ‘X Marks the Drop’ campaign

Here are the steps to sign up for the campaign:

  • Access the site here. You can also scan the QR code on the brands’ posters.
  • Sign up with the correct details.
  • Look for the nearest Burger King drop. Alternatively, drop a token in front of you.
  • Engage with the AR mode to collect your tokens. On the Whooper Wallet, click on the X to know your prize.
  • Go to a Burger King store to redeem the prizes using the code provided.
