LaLiga introduces blockchain technology in its soccer space to determine the goal-scoring balls that will play out as NFTs.
Spanish Laliga now embraces blockchain technology after the Spanish soccer league announced its plans to fans. The soccer league will incorporate blockchain technology, invalidating goal-scoring balls.
Currently, the system is in effect in the World Cup in Qatar. The system will track every ball used in the game, separate them and show the ones involved in the goals.
Goal scoring balls
Spanish LaLiga collaborated with Gol-Ball to set up the technology. In previous encounters, soccer balls would spin and mix with others.
Famous soccer player and legend Samuel Eto’o declared his support for the technology. Eto’o believes that blockchain technology will be a game changer.
“Normally, you receive a ball in your career after completing a hat trick. You could never be certain it was the ball used to score all the goals,” he said. Eto’o and his teammates would prefer to have all the balls in such scenarios.
LaLiga announced that fans would gain access to these goal-scoring balls. The access will feature through fan engagement methods. Spanish LaLiga promised to reveal the methods to fans come January.
The executive director, Oscar Mayo, believes that the technology serves as a link between physical and digital spaces. LaLiga takes pleasure in being innovative and providing opportunities to fans.
The soccer league helps fans feel more deeply connected to their favourite teams and idols.

According to the CEO of Go-Ball, Andres Rodriguez, fans can own these balls. Fans will now own these goal-scoring balls as a 3D image. This will make an allusion to the release of non-fungible tokens.
Previously, Spanish La Liga partnered with Dapper Labs. The two entities partnered to release Laliga Golazos. Laliga Golazos acts as an iconic NFT platform. The Spanish Soccer League continues to embrace blockchain technology in its endeavours.
