VeChainThor recently finished its Proof of Authority 2.0 upgrade on its ecosystem, heading for digital services that are more environmental-friendly. The decision comes at a time when the environmental balance is threatened by current practices encouraging global warming.
VeChainThor is among the blockchains deciding on more digitally sustainable practices through its recently completed Proof of Authority 2.0 upgrade. Over the past years, the more the blockchain industry evolves so do its consensus algorithms. The PoA consensus algorithm is one adoption encouraging more environmentally sustainable methods, unlike the Proof of Work algorithm.
VechainThor is now among the few blockchains going green, similar to Algorand and the Ethereum Kovan testnet. The successful update happened on November 17 (8:10 GMT) at block height 1381500. Its recent upgrade not only makes it more digitally sustainable but also heightens its scalability.
According to its mission, there are two ways the current environmental state could go: more carbon emissions into the air, excessive consumption, and continued ignorance of the earth’s equilibrium or recognizing, planning, and taking action to save the planet from the current dilemma.
A more secure VeChainThor
PoA2.0 brings more security to the VeChainThor ecosystem, with its developer team playing a significant role in its success. The ecosystem is taking advantage of the Nakamoto and BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance) strengths and looking into every weakness they have. As a result, the upgrade includes both security measures without any of their faults, making it the only blockchain taking such measures in the industry.
Additionally, the blockchain solves the issue with finality. This factor means that with finality, there is assured transaction completion without any issues midway, preventing data loss. It also deployed the committee function, which creates a new verification layer from several block validators. Combined with the previously mentioned security measure, VeChainThor is now among the most scalable and secure blockchains in the history of blockchain technology.
Digital sustainability redefined
VeChainThor aims to synthesize global data alongside upcoming technologies like artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. It is the new face of data storage with digital sustainability in the data industry. While it is still far from deploying improvements in its ecosystem, the blockchain has faith that sustainability comes early in its mission.
It also incentivizes users to leave lower carbon prints in their activities, collecting carbon credits they can use in exchange for goods and services. A good example is in its current initiative in San Marino, the VeChain Foundation headquarters.
The next for VeChainThor is to navigate mass adoption, a critical hurdle to overcome in the blockchain technology spread. Coming upgrades will usher in a new age in its blockchain with more user-friendly features, one among many tools to achieve adoption globally.
