NEAR Launches Web3-based Hub in South Korea

The NEAR Foundation launches a web3-based hub in South Korea as it eyes to expand its territory in the Asian continent and across the globe.

NEAR foundation establishes a web3 hub in South Korea to expand its allegiance to blockchain technology. The foundation governs the layer 1 blockchain NEAR protocol.

The new hub aims to attract local blockchain-based projects and professionals to NEAR protocol. The hub will mainly focus on gaming and related platforms in the blockchain space.

The NEAR Foundation hub

The NEAR Foundation plans to hold events to promote the growth of its blockchain community in Korea. The foundation targets investor meetups, developers, hackathons and other related other activities.

The project will support blockchain and web3 communities in Universities. South Korea will set up the hub to be hosted by influential figures in the blockchain space.

Entrepreneurs Ben Kang and Scott Lee will lead the hub and propel it forward. Details of the plan entail tapping into the country’s active gaming community.

The move will bring more amazing projects and creators to Korea’s vibrant web2 and web3 space. Most notably, game developers building on NEAR will be exposed to the gaming sector in the country.

The country’s massive gaming markets ranked fourth in the world. The developers earn commissions on the NEAR-based dapps they build. The hub will be integral in helping lay the foundation for web3 gaming’s future; both locally and beyond.

Role of Kang and Scott

Both Scott Lee and Ben Kang bring an impressive depth of knowledge and experience to the NEAR ecosystem. The move will also create a vast network of industry leaders from the broader web3 space.

Kang started his career in financial services and worked in high-profile roles at Merill Lynch. Kang also worked at the Korea Stock Exchange.

Lee, on the other hand, worked as the Director of Business Development of Legendaries. Kang leveraged his experience to advise on the company’s tokenomics and corporate in South Korea.

The power duo helps companies transition from web2 into web3 particularly those within the gaming industry.

Beneficiaries of the hub

Apparently, the hub will also play a proactive role in community building. NEAR gained wide support among the exciting web3 community for its impressive user interface.

Web3 helped democratize access to the building and bring a mix of exciting talent to the protocol. Kang claimed that they will focus on enhancing the overall NEAR ecosystem.

The hub will also value campus blockchain communities. The hub will work closely with the community to raise the profile of the NEAR protocol. The move will also share a spotlight on the high level of scalability and usability that the protocol offers.
