  • KPMG Canada launches a collaboration hub in partnership with KPMG-US
  • The collaboration hub is KPMG’s effort to move its clients and people into web3
  • The new hub will be a center for educating, training, and holding events and workshops

On the 22nd of June 2022, KPMG International Limited announced its entry into the metaverse ecosystem.

The  U.S and Canadian units of the global professional service network came together and set up the first collaboration hub.

The hub is a project tailored to connect the 236,000 KPMG employees, its customers and the community. KPMG will make its new hub a platform for educating, training, and holding events and workshops.

The new space will also act as the nerve center for its members to explore various opportunities across departments and industries.

A hub for internet iteration

The corporation is reported to be planning on recruiting more staff who will help in strengthening and scaling the hub. There will also be more key focus on healthcare, media, consumer and retail, and financial services as use cases of the hub in the metaverse.

According to the KPMG announcement, the U.S and Canada subsidiaries have already incorporated Chain Fusion. Through this tool, the firm will be able to render audit services to crypto-native firms, financial service firms and the Fintech firms.

During his talk. the KPMG U.S leader, Cliff Justice, noted that the hub will be a window through which talent will be nurtured. It as well aims to engage various groups of interest across the globe.

Justice noted that “The way we look at it, it’s not just augmented reality and virtual reality. It really encompasses everything that the internet would encompass, but it’s more interactive.”

Leveraging metaverse

KPMG is not new in the internet iteration ecosystem. Earlier in February 2022, the Canadian KPMG unit had put money into Bitcoin and Ethereum. The unit had also purchased a digital art from the non-fungible token collection, the World of Women (WoW).

The unit’s investment is reported to be a demonstration of KPMG’s confidence that crypto and blockchain adoption will continue spreading globally.

KPMG is among the major companies and businesses that are part of the metaverse. Just recently Angel’s Envy of Bacardi Limited held a week-long party to launch the first Meta Distillery. At the party, Angel’s Envy fans participated in a series of challenges to unlock free NFT wearable.

The gaming sector is also well represented in the metaverse. FIFA will hold its first metaverse gaming tournament in Qatar, the Middle East.

Companies from various sectors are on the rise to incorporate several metaverse elements such as NFTs, IoT, Cloud technologies and extended reality headsets among others.

Organizations such as Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, and Meta are at the forefront of embracing this new space. A space that can help transform the digital ecosystem into a future with captivating experiences.
